Small Self-Administered Pension Scheme (SSAPS)
An SSAPS is an approved company sponsored pension arrangement where the member trustee decides how the funds are to be invested. In general, investments are made outside the insurance companies. The vast majority of SSAPS are established in respect of company directors. By establishing a SSAPS the member trustee retains control of the fund in his/ her own scheme. The Revenue Commissioners require that a Pensioneer Trustee be appointed to operate such schemes.
